At Hiab, we’re looking for a VAT Specialist to play an essential role in ensuring accurate and compliant VAT processes across our international operations. You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative finance team where openness, respect, and diversity define the way we work. This is a maternity cover position, offering you the chance to make a meaningful contribution.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Review processed VAT documents and assess the accuracy of VAT treatment
Prepare reconciliations for VAT general ledger accounts
Support the Team Lead in analyzing end-to-end transaction flows and provide recommendations for process improvements from an indirect tax perspective
Extract, validate, and prepare financial data for EC Sales Lists and Intrastat
Prepare ad-hoc reports and ensure data accuracy across systems
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Intrastat/ECSL/VAT data quality within the ERP system
Support process transitions through knowledge transfer and work shadowing activities
What you’ll need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
2–4 years of experience in accounting or tax-related roles
Strong understanding of international indirect taxation, particularly EU VAT legislation
Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage
Experience in managing and interpreting simple to moderately complex data queries
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
A proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement
Fluent English, both written and spoken
