Our client is a leading retirement product planning company in the US. They have performed a lift and shift migration of SQL Server 2008 into Azure SQL Database (MI) and have designed a new architecture based on cloud services.
Our project will help them validate and implement the new architecture based on cloud services.
We are looking for a Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer to work on building a Databricks-based streaming data platform in Azure from scratch. This also includes building streaming data pipelines using Azure, python, Spark, Databricks and Snowflake.

What you will do:
- Develop and maintain the data architecture and roadmap aligned with the organization’s business goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to understand and analyze data requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions.
- Design and create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various data domains.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate data storage, integration, and processing. technologies, including data warehouses, data lakes, and cloud-based solutions.
- Collaborate with data engineering and development teams to implement data integration, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Define and implement data security and access controls to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Provide guidance and best practices to development teams for database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and trends and evaluate their potential impact on the organization’s data architecture.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure scalability, availability, and performance of data platforms and environments.
- Document data architecture artifacts, including data models, data flow diagrams, and system integrations.

- At least 5 years of overall data engineering experience.
- At least 1 years of experience with Azure (e.g. Functions, Event Hub).
- At least 2 years of experience with Databricks and Delta Lake.
- At least 2 years of experience with stream processing (e.g. Spark Streaming).
- Solid experience with python and SQL.
- Experience building DWH & data lakes.
- Experience in Snowflake.
