Senior BI Analyst (Focus: Data Visualization and Reporting) in Finance sector

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior BI Analyst to join our growing data analytics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data visualization, reporting, and SQL, with a passion for turning complex data into actionable insights. This role will play a key part in providing data-driven recommendations to our business stakeholders. Responsibilities:
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, adhering to established company branding guidelines and accessibility standards. Specifically, experience creating reports with drill-through functionality, DAX measures for complex calculations, and visualizations optimized for mobile devices is required
- Gather requirements from stakeholders across different business units, translating their needs into clear and concise specifications for reports and dashboards. This requires strong communication and listening skills.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that can inform business decisions. This includes using statistical methods and data mining techniques to extract meaningful insights from data.
- Write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from various sources including stored procedures for data cleansing, aggregation, and calculations used in downstream reporting.
- Collaborate with data engineers to refine data models and within our data warehouse to optimize reporting performance. This includes working with large datasets and understanding performance optimization techniques.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing reports and dashboards, as well as develop new BI solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in data visualization and business intelligence.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and report publishing.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with MS SQL and SSIS.
- Experience with dimensional modeling.
- Familiarity with data governance principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
