The Role: We are seeking an exceptional Software Engineer with deep C++ expertise and quantitative finance experience to join our client’s elite engineering team. In this role, you will architect, optimize, and maintain mission-critical trading infrastructure that powers our competitive advantage in the markets. In this role, you will architect, optimize, and maintain mission-critical trading infrastructure that powers our competitive advantage in the markets. You'll have the opportunity to work on challenging technical problems at the cutting edge of financial technology, with significant impact on the firm's performance and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement ultra-low-latency, high-throughput trading systems using modern C++ (C++17/20)
- Optimize critical execution paths to achieve microsecond-level performance improvements
- Develop robust market data processing pipelines for real-time decision making
- Engineer fault-tolerant systems with graceful degradation capabilities
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers to translate mathematical models into production-ready code
- Implement connectivity to diverse exchange APIs and market data feeds
- Rigorously profile and benchmark code to eliminate performance bottlenecks
- Design and implement advanced backtesting frameworks to validate trading strategies
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 system reliability
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field
- 5+ years of professional experience with C++ in performance-critical applications
- Demonstrable experience developing trading systems or similar low-latency applications
- Deep understanding of modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20) features and best practices
- Expert knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles
- Experience with high-performance computing techniques including SIMD optimization, cache-friendly code, and lock-free programming
- Proficiency with AI-powered development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar)
- Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory hierarchy, and CPU optimization techniques
- Experience with high-throughput, concurrent systems development
- Proven track record of delivering reliable software in complex environments
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Points:
- Experience developing or working with FIX protocol implementations
- Knowledge of order book mechanics and market microstructure
- Familiarity with financial market data providers (Refinitiv, Bloomberg, etc.)
- Experience with FPGA programming or hardware acceleration techniques
- Advanced Linux systems administration and performance tuning
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, research, and data analysis
- Experience with time-series databases and analytics
- Expertise in network programming and protocol optimization
