Payroll Specialist with German
This role is suitable for professionals with experience in German payroll and administration who enjoy structured processes, accuracy, and communication with employees in an international environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration (Germany)
- Process monthly payroll for employees located in Germany in cooperation with an external payroll provider
- Collect and validate payroll data including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, absences, and working time information
- Review payroll calculations, taxes, social security contributions, and statutory deductions
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and support payroll audits
- Communicate with payroll vendors and relevant institutions when required
HR Administration & Operations
- Manage employee lifecycle administration – onboarding, contract amendments, and offboarding
- Prepare employment contracts, confirmations, and HR documentation in line with German labor legislation
- Maintain and update employee data in HR and payroll systems
- Support the HR team in Germany with operational and administrative activities
Employee Support
- Act as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll and HR-related questions
- Provide support in German regarding salaries, benefits, leave balances, tax class changes, and documentation
- Investigate and resolve employee requests in a timely and professional manner
- Escalate complex cases when necessary
Compliance & Data Quality
- Ensure compliance with German labor law, tax, and social security regulations
- Maintain confidentiality and GDPR compliance standards
- Support internal and external audits and documentation checks
- Monitor data accuracy across HR and payroll systems
Requirements:
- Fluent German – written and spoken
- English level B1–B2 for internal communication
- Previous experience in payroll administration, HR operations, or HR shared services
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working with HRIS and/or payroll systems
- Good organizational and communication skills
Considered an Advantage:
- Experience supporting the German market
- Experience working with external payroll providers such as ADP, DATEV, or SD Worx
- Previous experience in an international company or shared service environment
