About the role:

We are looking for an Accountant to join our team based in Bulgaria. The role focuses on accounts payable and supports broader accounting activities, including expenses, fixed assets, and inventory. You will be part of a small, experienced team and will report directly to the Chief Accountant. The position offers hands-on involvement in day-to-day accounting processes and exposure to a variety of tasks across the function.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable (AP) invoices, employee reimbursements, advances, accruals, and journal entries in line with company policies and regulations.
• Support month-, quarter-, and year-end closing activities.
• Respond to AP-related inquiries and provide data for tax and statutory reporting.
• Prepare monthly AP ageing and inventory reports and provide basic analysis.
• Perform cost allocations and reconcile general ledger and AP balances.
• Prepare and process payment orders.
• Record and track fixed asset and inventory movements (additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation).
• Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
• Support updates and improvements in the accounting system related to AP.
• Communicate with banks, suppliers, and group entities.
• Maintain proper document filing in line with statutory requirements.

Requirements:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• Basic knowledge of local accounting standards (NAS) and/or IAS/IFRS.
• Basic understanding of Bulgarian tax legislation.
• Good MS Office skills, especially Excel.
• Good organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work with deadlines.
• Good command of English (written and spoken).
• Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.
